Tailgating at Colts games is a huge event, which involves most of the public and private parking lots in the downtown Indianapolis area. Some of the parking lots involved include:

  • Hurst Bean on McCarty Street
  • Sideline Parking - City Park on East Maryland Street
  • Central Parking System on W Ohio Street
  • Express Park Garage on N Pennsylvania Street
  • Virginia Ave Parking Garage on Virginia Avenue
  • First Indiana Plaza Parking Garage on N Pennsylvania Street
  • Stuart's Parking Lot on E Wabash Street
  • Capital Commons Parking Garage on S Capital Street
  • Blue Crew Lot on S Pennsylvania Avenue

Many local businesses, including banks and churches, also provide space for tailgating in exchange for a fee.

Tailgating Prices

Prices for game-day parking range generally range from $50 to $15, which sometimes includes the right to tailgate. However, some lots sell season passes, which include rights to tailgate for 2 preseason and 8 regular season games. Prices vary by parking lot. An example of prices for season passes is as follows for the Blue Crew Lot:

  • Car parking (1 parking spot): $237.00
  • Small RV Parking (2 parking spots) $438.00
  • Medium RV Parking (3 parking spots) $640.00
  • Large RV Parking (4 parking spots) $840.00

These prices are representative of passes issued by other parking lots. The general rule is the closer to Lucas Oil Stadium, the higher the price.

Official Colts Tailgate

The Colts sponsor a VIP tailgate located across from the Huntington entrance to Lucas Oil Stadium. This service takes place in a heated tent, which accommodates up to 500 people. Featured in the tent are flat-screen TVs, all-you-can eat food by Indianapolis-based restaurants, and a bar with cocktails, beer and wine. The sponsored tailgate is $75.00 per person.

Tailgating Rules

Rules for tailgating vary by parking lot. The Blue Crew Lots are as follows:

  • Parking lot opens 5 hours prior to kickoff
  • Parking pass must be displayed in the window of vehicle
  • RV Passes are only valid for the vehicle they have been issued to. No sharing passes.
  • Spaces cannot be reserved for someone arriving later.
  • Only occupy the space or spaces you purchased.
  • Please keep all lanes clear for emergency vehicles and emergency personnel.
  • Please pick up after yourself and your vehicle.
  • No wood burning or open flames of any kind will be allowed on the lot, which includes charcoal grills.
  • No one under 21 is allowed to consume or possess alcoholic beverages.
  • Any problems are to be reported to lot staff or police.
  • Violations of rules can result in the revocation of season pass.

Again, these rules are representative of those in other lots. As one might expect, one of the most important rules to abide by on this list involves minor consumption. Staff at all parking lots and police officers treat the issue very seriously.
